Landscaping

Landscaping improvements at the following types of properties require permits from the City:

• Multi-family residential properties (e.g. townhomes, rowhomes, apartments, condos and any property with a Homeowners Association)
• Commercial properties
• Industrial properties

Water Conservation in Landscaping Regulations 

In 2010, the City adopted Water Conservation in Landscaping Regulations that encourages landscaping design that reduces water consumption. These regulations were updated in 2016 and are applicable to the following types of projects:

• Any project that requires a Planning permit where 500 square feet or more of new or modified landscaping is proposed

EXEMPT from these regulations are single-family homes and duplexes, historic properties, community gardens and commercial agriculture uses.
