Schedule Inspections

Note: When an inspection is scheduled, the City inspector expects your project to be ready for inspection. If you are not ready upon the inspectors arrival, the City can charge a re-inspection fee prior to other subsequent inspections being scheduled.

Building Inspections

Building inspection requests are available to schedule 24 hours a day online. If the inspection request is received by 3:00 PM on a business day, the inspection will be scheduled for the next business day. Requests received after 3:00 p.m. will be scheduled for the second business day.

• Inspections are scheduled for AM or PM; they are not time-specific.
• Inspections occur Monday through Friday 8 am to 3 pm.

You must have your permit number available or have the address to schedule. You will ONLY receive a call back regarding an inspection if it cannot be scheduled for your requested time.

Fire Protection Inspections

All Fire inspections for fire sprinklers and alarms are scheduled on a first-come, first-serve basis. A minimum advance notice of five (5) business days prior to the requested day and time of inspection is required.

• Inspections are time-specific
• Occur Monday, Wednesday, and Friday between 7 am to 12 pm and 1 to 4 pm

To schedule an inspection, please complete the online request form and City staff will follow up with an inspection time within 1 business day.

Hazardous Materials & Fire Marshall Inspections

All inspections for hazardous material permits and Fire Marshall inspections with the Fire Department can be scheduled at 650-903-6378 or FEPDinspections@mountainview.gov. When calling or emailing to schedule an inspection, have your permit number and project address site ready. Inspections are scheduled to be date and time specific. 

Planning Inspections

To schedule a Planning inspection, please contact your assigned project Planner. For new construction, Planning inspections are typically required at material mock-up, framing, application of exterior materials, and prior to occupancy. Additional inspections may be required and coordinated with the Planner directly. 

• Inspections occur Monday through Friday 8 am to 4 pm.

Public Works Inspections

To schedule a Public Works inspection, please call 650-903-6311 at least 48 hours prior to commencing work. 

• Inspections occur Monday through Friday 7:30 am to 4 pm.

You must provide your Excavation Permit number and project address to schedule.
