Holiday Closure

City offices will be closed for the holidays from Thursday, December 25, 2025 through Thursday, January 1, 2026. City offices will reopen at 8 am on Friday, January 2, 2026. No public counter, permit review, or inspection services will be available during this closure.  

No new permit applications will be accepted after 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. Any resubmittal or fees received on an existing permit from December 24, 2025 through January 1, 2026 will not be processed until city offices reopen. All building and fire protection permits submitted after December 23, 2025 will be subject to the 2025 California Building Codes, inclusive of any local amendments.

No public counter services in the Community Development Department will be available on Wednesday, December 24, 2025. The lobby will be closed to the public.

Business and Other Licenses

All business license, Cottage Food industry, Mobile Vending and Home Occupation applications (new or renewal) can be submitted electronically by email at BusinessLicense@mountainview.gov.

Building

  • All Building and Fire Protection permits must be submitted electronically online at ePermitsMV.
  • In-Person assistance is available at the public counter, along with Virtual Public Counter appointments.
  • Building inspections can be scheduled online (Click on Inspections tab).
  • Fire Protection inspections can be scheduled by calling 650-903-6313 (Extension 0).
  • General Building and Fire Protection inquiries can be emailed to building@mountainview.gov or call 650-903-6313.

Community Services

  • For a Street Tree Removal permit, visit Street Trees or call 650-903-6273.
  • All Heritage Tree Removal permits must be submitted electronically online at ePermitsMV.
  • To rent or reserve a City facility, a BBQ at a City park, or swim lane at our City pool, visit Facility Rentals.
  • For a Special Events Permit on City land, public parks, parking lots, or use of public streets, visit Special Event Permits for more information.

Environmental Protection/ Hazardous Material

  • Hazardous materials permits and Stormwater Management forms for construction are available online
  • To schedule an inspection or for general inquiries, please email FEPDinspections@mountainview.gov or call 650-903-6378.
  • In-person assistance must be scheduled in advance as Staff also conducts field inspections.

Housing

  • In-Person assistance is available at the fourth floor public counter. 
  • General inquiries can be emailed to housing@mountainview.gov or call 650-903-6379.

Planning

All Planning applications must be submitted electronically online at ePermitsMV.

  • In-Person assistance is available at the public counter. Virtual appointments can be arranged on an as-requested basis by the Planner on Duty.
  • All Planning inspections can be scheduled by contacting the assigned Planner at 650-903-6306.
  • General inquiries can be emailed to planning.division@mountainview.gov or call 650-903-6306.

Public Works

All Public Works Permits must be submitted electronically online at ePermitsMV.

  • In-person assistance is available at the public counter. Virtual appointments can be arranged on an as-requested basis by the Engineer on Duty.
  • All Public Works inspections can be scheduled by phone at 650-903-6311.
